What an interesting day. ABC announced that they are canceling long-running soap operas "All My Children" and "One Life to Live." Granted, I'm not a fan of either, strictly being a "Days of Our Lives" kind of guy, but it's still a momentous day in history.
Of course I haven't watched a soap opera in years, but any Southern guy who spent any amount of time with an aunt or grandmother while growing up experienced the bonding ritual of tuning into "the stories." And any college student who had morning classes and returned to their dorms for a mid-afternoon nap most likely fell asleep to the sweet sounds of courting by the likes of Bo and Hope.
Gone are the days when the soaps ruled the afternoon airwaves. Like sands through the hourglass...
P.S. What will Susan Lucci do now?
